In Memorium - Gary Dewey
(a good friend and one of the first Rusty Nutters)

HALLETT - Barry and Greg survived the rain all-day Friday and 6" of snow on saturday, obviously the racing was cancelled for Saturday. For those who hung in there the racing on Sunday was run opposite to the way they normally run the track. Barry qualified well and finished in fine fashion. Greg had clutch problems and did not run. Quite a start to the new season.

Greg's new Fiesta - Just got word from Greg that he has finished up an ITC Fiesta. It had lots of rust to begin with but it looks like he has done a nice job. I have included a picture under his "V" on the photo page.

Gingerman School & Race Weekend 4/29-5/3
Rain thursday and Friday but we graduated 32 students. The track was oiled down thoroughly on  Saturday morning by some unfortunate racers but things did get back to normal. Rusty Nutters racing: Tim, John, Bob, Tom Davis. Others in attendance to get their cars teched for the year but not racing: Bill, Paul, Jim. Rob was there to lend a helping hand to John and any others who needed it. Beautiful weather on Saturday and Sunday. Apparently Tom Davis had a great race on Sunday. Tim did well with some very worn tires but did hear a familiar sound (broken valve spring?) on Sunday so did not run.
Looks like Tim, Bill, Bob, Paul will make Pittsburgh this year and we are trying to talk Tom Davis into attending as well.
Update: Tim's noise turned out to be an exhaust system rattle, valve springs looked OK.
Talked to Tom Pixley last night and found out that John blew a head gasket on Saturday. Tom and Gretchen just got back from Italy and had a great time. They are now headed for the BRIC, entrants appear low as of last night.
Dave and Sue recently returned from Switzerland and likewise had a wonderful time.

Tom P. at Road America - Although cold, Tom and Gretchen had an uneventful time at RA. Tom ended up running with several Indy, F 1, FA cars and managed to pass several of the Indy cars in the race. I assume they are headed for Mosport next.

Welcome Bob Storc - Looks like Bob will be joining us at Pittsburgh. Bob drives the Yenko Corvair that you have seen at many events.

News from Blackhawk - George reports That he, Bob M and Jim all made the Blackhawk weekend along with 142 others. Lots of fun and George took a second and a first.
Update - Barry and Greg with family were at Blackhawk as well. Barry ran the Jabro and Greg ran the V but had carburetion problems. Even so, they both did very well.

Lake Garnett and Eagles Canyon - Barry and Greg attended the 50th reunion at Lake Garnett. Greg took the Beach and Barry the Jabro. They stopped racing sports cars there in 1972 but it is still used for go-carts. Barry ran there in 1963. Great show and a lot of old memories surrounded the show.
Eagles Canyon was a wet but good race weekend. track has some significant elevation changes. Barry's V ran fairly well (spark plug wire fell off) but back on the trailer in good shape.

Barry's Jabro - Picture has been added
